The construction of a new sports park in Yukon lies in the hands of the voters. They must approve an $18 million bond to get the dirt moving. However, how the bond is being funded has kicked up some controversy.
The Yukon Animal Shelter shares its building with Pets and People, a no-kill shelter in the area. This summer they have nearly twice the number of animals then should be allowed in the building.
Yukon's mayor says a $4 million hole in the city's $50 million budget is on its way to getting repaired.
“Do whatever it takes to get it fixed,” Yukon City Manager Jim Crosby said from behind his desk inside the City Hall on Wednesday afternoon.
